| Okay,I just finished the first run of my new attempt at the Cool Running Couch to 5K running program. I’ve decided that the only way I’m going to get this done is to run at work. I figure that I’ll get through the program while it’s still cool enough to run outside at lunch time. It’s a nine week program and I’m going to re-run the first one on Monday (January 18th), so I should finish, and be able to run 30 minutes without stopping,on Friday,March 19th. At that point I’ll re-evaluate the when and where. I’m hoping that I might be feeling better enough that I could start running in the mornings, which would be the best thing for Texas summers! I’ve heard that it is motivating to go ahead and register for a race that is happening near my target end date…So,I think I’m going to sign up for the Impossible Possibilities St. Patrick’s Day 5K. That’s actually at the end of week 8,but if I have to walk part of the race I can. Today is day 18 of being a non-smoker. I think I could tell when I was running. There are moments that I think about smoking, but as of right now,I think I’m doing pretty good. Today was the weigh-in for the office’s Biggest Loser competition…at the end of three months there will be a cash prize for the top male and female losers. Here’s hoping I win. Even if I don’t win the money,I will still win because I’ll weigh less than I do now! Well, yesterday was a 14-hour day at work. I have told work, and promised myself, that I will work 8:00 –5:00 starting last week. I had been doing good holding to that and plan to continue in the future. However, yesterday was an exception —Jordan was home not feeling well,so I didn’t need to pick him up from Band Camp and I was out sick Monday,so I needed to make up some hours. So,I stayed. But,man,I’m just too old for this stuff. (Really, too fat and out of shape, not too old.) And what I stayed for dragged on and on to the point of sillyness. Another reason to not work long hours is a good one …they’ve offered me a full-time position! And the salary they offered is a tiny bit more than I’m making as a contractor! With paid holidays! And paid vacation! And better insurance! And no more paid overtime! So,of course,I’m doubly interested in not working any more 60-70 hour weeks. I just got my renewal notice for this domain and it made me think that maybe I should actually USE the domain if I’m going to keep paying for it… Granted,I was working diligently on my photo gallery, and what I’ve gotten accomplished there is worth the fees. Sure,I have tons more to do,but it’s a good start. I think that I got derailed with the drama of the court fight for Jordan to come live with me and then the adjustment to having a full-time teenager and then the two 60+ hour weeks and the 70+ hour week. I worked for three weeks straight without a day off. Man,I had no idea how bad that would suck. I was finally just a blubbering fool. But I had this weekend off,and actually called in sick today and slept a lot of it. So,this is a start. I’m still tired and I took a sleeping pill,so I’m going to head for the bedroom and read a little and then hopefully get a full night sleep. G’night. Slice sweet potatoes into 1-inch tall rounds. Mix in a bowl with freshly minced garlic, olive oil, kosher salt (to taste) and thyme. Put into baking pan and bake at 400 degrees for 35-40 minutes,or until tender. Variation: Slice the sweet potatoes thin and cook them until they are crispy. Not a lot to do at work. Lots of people out of the office. Posted more joke/quotes entries. Lunch time involved a trip to the bank to make a deposit. Dad was at the house when I got home working on replacing the bearings in the leather chair. Took the dogs for a one-mile walk. Caught up with Agility paperwork. (Organized and filed paperwork from old trials). Saw the Vivian dadada video. Crazy cute!! Got up at a decent time and got lots of chores done around the house: - Laundry
- Cleaned up the kitchen
- Updated Quicken
- Processed mail
- Raked leaves off back porch
- Laundered dog beds and then put inside crates.
- Installed more software on Blondie.
- Adam called and we talked for quite a while
Feeling like I’m ready to get serious about eating and exercise. (Maybe smoking.) Slept in because I stayed up too late watching television. In to work 12:00–8:00. Didn’t have much “real”work to do so I sorted and organized my receipts and posted entries to my humor and quotes blogs. Work. Grandy’s for lunch. (I was feeling sick at my stomache and felt strongly that I should eat someting soft and bland like mashed potatoes.) Stopped by Mom &Dad’s on the way home from work to pick up the mystery present from the ex’s family. It was Grinch shirt and sleep pants. Watched several episodes of Dogs 101. Christmas Day Spent the day at Mom &Dad’s and Jordan spent the night. Work. No family gathering. | |
